Do Fad Diets Really Work?

So you thought that you can lose weight by following one of those fad diets out there? Sorry to burst your bubble, but weight loss is not that easy! If your weight loss program recommends fad diets then you seriously need to look at other options, because believe it or not, the fact remains that fad diets have seldom worked for anyone! They are called fad diets because they are just that: fads that burn your money rather than fat. In this article I will tell you why a fad diet doesn’t work.

Indeed, if you want to lose weight quickly, then fad diets can help you, but don’t expect to get a slim body with their help! Sounds strange? Well, to get a slim body, what you need to lose is FAT! However, with most of the commercial fad diets, you only lose your valuable muscles and water weight, both of which are important for the maintenance of your health. No wonder that after being on a fad diet program, you start feeling tired, weak and dehydrated!

You see, the best kept weight loss secret is this “if you lose weight too fast, expect to gain it back again later”. Natural weight loss should be slow and gradual, and you can achieve permanent weight loss only by following natural and healthy weight loss methods. Using unnatural methods such as fad diets and diet pills can you give you very quick results but only as long as you use them.

As soon as you stop their consumption and return back to your normal diet, you gain back all your ‘lost’ weight. If you had indeed lost fat then there was no way to gain it back unless you started eating junk foods once again; but water and muscle loss is only temporary and this loss is stabilized once you start eating normally.

The best course is to follow a diet program that you can stick with not just for a few months, but for your entire lifetime. That is because you don’t just want to achieve weight loss, you would also want to keep the weight off from returning in future, and the only way to ensure that is to follow a diet consisting of natural fruits and vegetables.

Fad diets place many unnecessary food restrictions on you which eventually force you to give up your weight loss efforts. Of course, some food restrictions also exist with the natural and proven diet programs, but they are very much doable. Also remember that if you are serious about weight loss, you can no longer afford to eat your favorite, delicious fatty foods. That is the reason why almost every diet program would seem to be ‘too restrictive’ when you start following it, but gradually you will get used to it when you realize that you are doing it all to improve your health!

Keep in mind that the difference between fad diets and natural diets is the difference between unnatural and natural.
