How High Gas Prices Help You Lose Weight
At the time of this writing, gas prices in the United States are over four dollars a gallon. Most people are very upset about this, but anyone who wants to lose weight should actually be happy. The high cost of gas is forcing us to consider alternative means of transportation.
Two excellent alternative transportation means are also excellent ways to lose weight. Riding a bicycle, or walking. Not only will these help us lose weight, they’ll help us lose weight very fast. They also help us become more fit and healthy, and they help us maintain our weight loss over the long term.
If you live close to your workplace and your favorite stores, you can start saving yourself money while losing weight in the process. Instead of putting more expensive gas into your car, dust off the bicycle or a comfortable pair of walking shoes, and start doing things in a more old-fashioned way.
Most people can walk or ride a bicycle fairly easily. If you’re severely out of shape, you may have to work up to the distances needed to travel back and forth to work and the store. How slowly you need to build a this will depend on how far things are or where you live and how out of shape you are. Anyone can get started today though, just by walking out their front door.
Start by walking around the block, or writing your bicycle around the block. Do this for at least one to two weeks, then add a little more distance. Before you know it, you’ll be walking or riding to the store or to work and back with no problem. And by the time you get to that point, you’ll also notice that you started losing weight, shedding body fat, and losing clothing sizes too.
