Pay Attention to How Much Food You’re Eating
In the United States most people have no idea how much food they eat every day. They don’t know for instance, that what they put onto their plate as a serving size is actually usually two to three times more than the real serving size should be. And this creates a very real problem when you’re trying to lose weight.
Popular energy drinks that you buy in a bottle at the store are an excellent example. Many people will look at the label to find out how many calories the drink actually has. And they will make their buying choice based on whether they think the amount of calories are acceptable. What they don’t realize though, is that often that one bottle of energy drink is actually two to three servings. So even if the label tells you there are only 100 calories per serving, you end up getting 200 to 300 calories if you drink the entire bottle at once.
This same thing happens when we get a plate of food at dinnertime. We tend to use large dinner plates that hold a lot of food. If we were to simply put the proper serving size of food on the plate, it would appear as if we had hardly anything to eat. So most of us load up the plate with way too much food.
If you were to actually measure out each serving size that you put on your plate, it would look as if you did not have much food to eat. Do you know what one quarter cup of broccoli actually looks like for example? How about 3 ounces of chicken? Most people have no idea what those portion sizes look like.
An easy way to help cut down the amount of food you’re eating in one sitting, is to simply change the size of plate you use to eat. Putting your food onto a salad plate for example, will automatically force you to put less food onto the plate. Not only does this help you eat less food at once, it also triggers a psychological satisfaction because you do not appear to be depriving yourself of food. Instead, you’re actually tricking your brain into thinking you’re eating more food, since the plate appears to be so full.
Using just this one weight loss tip, you can start losing much more weight and body fat at a much faster rate.
